SUMMARY: 

The primary function of this leadership position is to manage the overall growth and performance of the technology infrastructure group at Claypool Electric.   They will help develop the Technology Group to become a self-sustaining entity, and Claypool Electric to lead the Central Ohio market in this sector.  This position will report to the President, and will participate in the development of market strategies, sales, estimation, vendor relations, and project management.

The market segments the Technology Group Director is responsible for include:

Division 27 (cabling infrastructure for network systems, sound systems for various applications, video and multi-media systems installation, nurse call systems for health-care facilities), and Division 28 (distributed antenna systems, security and access control systems, closed-circuit TV camera systems)

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 

  • Work with other managers, estimators, and leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for various elements in the technology infrastructure group 
  • Act as the Company representative with customers and potential customers
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction supervision to discuss and formulate estimates and plans
  • Continually analyze the technology infrastructure market in an effort to refine and improve its success
  • Analyze blueprints, construction drawings and other documentation to present in a professional manner
  • Prepare and submit accurate and complete bids, budgets, estimates, and change orders assigned by management
  • Develop pricing/bid strategies with vendors/subcontractors to maximize competitiveness at bid time
  • Visit jobsites and attend pre-bid and vendor meetings as necessary
  • Prepare professional, detailed proposal letters
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Follow-up/negotiation via telephone with clients for contract award

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:  

  • Highly personable, with the ability to quickly build relationships
  • Strong track record of accomplishments and promotions in technology infrastructure
  • Able to use Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Work independently in a high-pressure environment
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Skill in reading and evaluating electrical blueprints, panel layout sheets and other technical schematics.
  • Skill in using analytical and research skills to define and solve problems.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Technology Infrastructure work experience and considerable knowledge of Division 27 and Division 28 technology market segments and documents. RCDD certification is preferred, but not required.
